I went to Bali as an on-site support for APEC CEO Summit 2013 website. It was an exciting trip. I was stationed in the Media Center room along with all the journalists around the world. I briefed and quickly post the news / photos updates to the website. I took some photos along the way. […]

When the launch of iPhone 4 in 2010, who would ever think to have high resolution graphics in their website? Everybody was in the comfort 72 ppi zone. But after that, Apple’s competitor began to launch retina-ish / high resolution devices to the market too, but didn’t create enough wave for website designers. Most are […]

Website with big header (or stage) image is getting more and more popular. I love them, because it usually help the user to experience the design/branding by pulling down the atmosphere. Impact, vibrant and rich are the keywords. But there’s a big sacrifice: slower loading time.

Often, when designing website, I need to use specific icon fast, because they are important (explained in this post). The usual suspects are social media icons (Facebook, Twitter LinkedIn), email icon, login icon, country flag, phone icon, document icon). There’s no way to use the same resource in my personal folder collection for over and […]

Here in Stucel, we use email and instant message extensively to communicate with clients and colleagues. By working virtually i.e not face to face, clear communication is the most important thing to get it right. We all know, it’s a different thing to explain something through written if compared to live meet up. For on site […]

When meeting up with the clients, laptop has always been my trusty companion. But on my last meeting, I decided to do something different. I bring the iPad on the first meeting with new important client. It’s not that I don’t trust the Macs anymore, it’s just the user-experience aspect on laptop doesn’t go very well in showcasing lots of web design portfolio images. And, they are not the lightest laptop in the world. Often my shoulder breaking down while carrying one of them.

San Francisco based startup, Disqus is getting more popular now, and growing fast. More and more popular news/blog site using it. Big sites like Engadget, TechCrunch has Disqus powering their comment system. I choose Disqus here at Stucel, replacing WordPress default comment system. There are many advantages for using it, the best part is Disqus […]

We don’t have any active marketing campaign in the real life since the first day. We count on Google to bring in the sales leads. Swamped with design works and dozens of emails per day, I’ve been blindly ignore the rate numbers all this time. For instance, I didn’t monitor the web-visit number, versus the visitor-who-contact-us number. Alas, a very unwise attitude for a small business who count its life to only just Google and his search fellas.

Being a project manager, one will meet types of clients, some are easy, some are not. I found that understanding (guessing) what client doesn’t like, is the most difficult thing. Especially when they can not address constructive opinion, he/she who prefer “I don’t like it, and I don’t know why I don’t”. If lucky, is […]
